Future

Forum

Future Forum is an experimental 3-day conference in San Francisco, USA. We are bringing together 200 of the world’s most thoughtful and ambitious individuals, where you will meet some of the creators and visionaries working to improve the future of humanity. Together, you will kindle one-on-one conversations, brainstorming sessions, fireside chats, workshops, and more.

What matters most

this century?

Introduction

This century confronts humanity with both pressing global problems and the potential to build amazing futures.

Future Forum serves as a bridge to inspire and connect attendees from a mix of communities, including Emergent Ventures, Progress Studies, Effective Altruism, Silicon Valley tech, Crypto, and Longevity, among others. We are creating a community of communities.

Venue

Ditching conventional conference venues, we are experimenting with what happens when driven individuals come together in an environment that fosters close-knit groups and one-on-one conversations about humanity’s most important challenges and opportunities. Future Forum will take place in a cozy South San Francisco residence, which one of our supporters has generously allowed us to use. All programming will take place here, while nightly accommodation will be offsite.

We want you.

We are excited about participants in any career stage, from college students to established professionals.

Even if you feel you would not be a good fit or you feel you are not Future Forum’s typical participant, we strongly encourage you to apply. We are considering applicants from across the globe and across diverse age groups, from ambitious 15-year-old high-schoolers to 50-year-old mid-career professionals. Even, if you have not interacted much with any of the involved communities, we encourage you to apply.

For those accepted, we can provide need-based support for travel and accommodation on a case-by-case basis. We want to make sure you can be at Future Forum.

FAQ

When: August 4th - 7th. Please make sure to arrive by lunch on Thursday, August 4th. And please make sure you do not have any responsibilities or other events scheduled throughout the main event!

Where: South San Francisco, in a beautiful venue donated for our use. We will provide nearby hotel recommendation.

What: 3 days of mingling, relaxing, talks, conversations, fireside chats, and big plans. New friends guaranteed!

Everyone can apply! Even if you have never heard of any of the mentioned communities or speakers but find this event intriguing, we encourage you to apply.

We want to make sure you can be at Future Forum so we are not charging admission tickets for the conference. Although we expect participants to cover their own accommodations and travel expenses, we will likely be able to provide a limited amount of funding to cover these expenses on a case-by-case basis.

The form will ask for some basic information about who you are as well as a few written responses. We might also conduct an interview with some applicants to learn more about you.

The main deadline to apply was July 17th, 23:59 Pacific Time. After you submit the form, some applicants may receive an interview invitation. We aim to get back to applicants within 7 days, but this might depend on the timing of your application. We accept late applications, but we cannot guarantee that we’ll review them or review them in time before the main event.

Not a problem! We would love for you to tell your friends about us and encourage them to apply. This is our nomination form.

Future Forum will recommend an accommodation. You are of course welcome to stay elsewhere, but we encourage all to stay at our recommended accommodation to make coordination and serendipitous socializing easier!

By default, participants cover their own accommodations. However, we want to make sure you can be at Future Forum, and we likely can provide a limited amount of funding to cover accommodations.

We encourage you to apply anyway! If you are accepted, we have a limited pot available to provide financial support for transportation (e.g., flights). If you require financial support for other costs, we may review them on a case-by-case basis after the interview process.

No, you do not have to be a US citizen to attend, and we strongly encourage international citizens to apply. Most European citizens are eligible to enter the US under the ESTA Visa Waiver Program to attend a conference. The application for a Visa Waiver is relatively short and can be done up until the week of travel.
You may also apply for or acquire a B1 or B2 visa relatively short. For example, Canadians passport holders can acquire a B1/B2 visa upon their departing flight into the US. Future Forum does not give recommendations for US visa application processes and we would recommend you visit this link for more information regarding the visa waiver program and this link for visitor visas.

Speakers & Supporters

Most of Future Forum will take an unstructured form comprising one-on-one conversations with peers and mentors, group discussions, and some workshops. But a few times each day, our amazing speakers will give brief talks and mingle with the crowd. Welcome our speakers and supporters:
